88/100 Points - Cape to Cairo Syrah Western Cape 2006 $26

"A thick, velvety layer of plum sauce is pushed by braised fig, espresso and charred apple wood notes in this ripe, open-knit red. The finish is long and fleshy. Drink now. 1,300 cases made." - J.M.

September 2009 Issue

86/100 Cape to Cairo Wines Syrah 2006 (Western Cape); $24

"This introverted but elegant Syrah starts with full, spicy blackberry and violet aromas. Flavors of spice, oak and black fruit are restrained and clean in a more traditional Syrah style. The finish is spicy and dry but lingers. Ageable and an excellent food pairing wine; think spicy grilled meats, cheeses.
Imported by The Triton Collection." - S.K.
